    Bay Area Sparring

I really want to roll with more TPJJ guys, work my nogi game, and get ready to start seriously competing. I live in the Lake Merritt area of Oakland, and train - mostly in my gi - with Eduardo Rocha (4th deg BB under Royler). The gym is absolutely amazing, and Eduardo is great, but I really love nogi. If anyone lives in the area, let me know, I'd love to spar, train, or smoke and watch live streams of mma events with someone who actually get jj. God, I hope this doesn't sound like, "I like long walks on the beach..."

Nogi tpjj swm seeks Lake Meritt (Oakland) training BJJ partner to spar, train, smoke, and watch live streams of mma events. No fatties.

    It does now.

    Denny's

I'd really love to train at Denny's, but it doesn't work with my work schedule and commute unfortunately. I am definitely going to stop in a some point though, without a doubt.

Thanks Denny. I guess now I have to! I'll pick a day in the near future to "work from home" and come by. Do you always teach class, or are there other guys who do it sometimes? Not that I doubt the skills of anyone you allow to teach in your gym, but I'd like to come by on a day you are around and introduce myself. I have to say, one of the coolest things about TPJJ is how down to earth and welcoming even the top fighters can be. There seems to be very little sticking your chests out, or only talking to brown belts and up, etc. It's the only time I can personally look at a black belt as another human being who happens to be great at BJJ, rather than some mystical being from the BJJ dimension (I hope this makes sense, and no, I'm actually not high for once while writing this). Makes it easier for me to learn from someone I can relate to.

He teaches pretty much every class, unless he is doing a seminar somewhere.
