10th Planet St. Paul, MN - Blake Bilder takes Gold at NAGA Chicago (VIDEO)

We headed down to Chicago yesterday for the NAGA tournament. Blake has been on a tear for the last year and has won Gold in every tournament locally he's entered. We showed up for the weigh ins on Friday night and Blake was .4 pounds over weight. He had to run around the complex for a while and eventually weighed in at 169.6 lbs.

He had 4 matches total to win Gold. 3 matches won by submission and 1 by points. This is his 1st of the tournament against a really tough opponent from Miguel Torres gym.

He starts off looking for the Gogoplata and then transitions into an armbar.

Blakes 2nd match was filmed on his camera and I need to get that from him. He won that match by belly down armbar.

His 3rd match was won by points and he was cut in that match by an elbow that caught him above the eye where he has some scar tissue from Muay Thai. The cut wasn't too bad but he bled on his rashguard so they made him take it off.

Here's his 4th match for 1st place. He was getting tired at this point and I think the cut rattled him a little bit. He ends up finishing the match with an Americana from a reverse "no arm" triangle. There was a couple scary moments where I thought the guy was going to attack with a kneebar or toehold but luckily he wasn't confident in his leg lock game.

We have the Submission Hunt tournament on May 5th and should have some footage. I'll be putting together a highlight video of all of Blake's submission wins in competition. Here's another quick video from last weekends Grappling Games.
