Open Mart Radio Tales from the 10th Planet part 2/2 with Eddie and I

    http://www.openmatradio.com/

On this weeks episode of Open Mat Radio, we wrap up our two-part series with Eddie Bravo and Denny Prokopos. For more details on this episode, click the “Read More” link below. Enjoy the show!

“I don’t hate the gi. I have nothing against the gi. It’s all about making jiu-jitsu look good to the world and in the octagon.” – Eddie

“I’m totally down to learn spiral, you know, De La Riva, 50/50. I don’t knock any of the styles. When I see that someone uses something in competition right, I don’t just look to learn to defend it, I look to learn it.“ – Denny

“If you see someone out there killing with a certain technique, you can have that technique, if you put in the right amount of reps.” – Eddie

“I really feel like jiu-jitsu humbles you and that’s how I really feel, like jiu-jitsu is a phenomenal tool for personal development.” – Denny

We put a new spin on classic Eddie Bravo topics like marijuana as a performance enhancer, why anyone can play rubber guard and why he wasn’t intimidated by Royler Gracie
Eddie compares his victory over Royler to promoting Denny as his first black belt
Denny describes the mental and physical aspects of recovery
Eddie describes where Denny is passing him in skill development
Denny describes the roll of intuition, drilling and feeling in his game
Eddie and Denny describe the 10th Planet attitude to training, mental preparation and learning

Probably my favorite line is "Ok, Nino Schembri invented the rubber guard? I don't care, just use it!" I love Eddie's mentality. People really misunderstand his intentions and imo that one line clears a lot of it up. It's not about Eddie Bravo. It's about advancing BJJ. People get distracted by the weed, the names, the comedy. But in the end, this is just the continuation of the evolution of BJJ.

Again, I think that was a great interview and I hope his critics actually took time to listen to it.
