Alot of what u guys are saying is exactly how i treat the situation. I am just being as nice to this dude as i can. I think the only reason he allows me to train at the gym is because he is dating my sister. But whatever he is a douche, but he also runs the ONLY bjj school in Fairbanks. Which limits my options. I will be moving hopefully soon and I am going to make a living with Jiu jitsu. I want to be world champion and I want to make this my career not only for me but for my family and the system i love.

Gerrit, your handling this with class, let the cunts of the world act like cunts... and then let society inevitably FUCK them. Pretty soon, another school will open up in your area, by a guy who is not a total douche and it will shut him out of business... hell it might be your school for all you know. Just keep training and just avoid him wherever possible... the universe has its way of dealing with people like this.

I would have to agree with my brother, depending on how long this "relationship" with your sister has been going on or plans to go on. If it looks like this "bag of douche" will be in your life for a long period of time you will have to alpha him at some point. Unless he is only a dick in the gym, but if he gets all douchy at family events you may have to slap a mean heel hook on him.

Funny thing is he may be a brown belt, but the dude doesn't compete because he doesn't want to loose in front of his students. And i am very competitive. Every time i have rolled with him i end up tapping him and he blames it on different excuses every time because he has the biggest ego ever and doesn't want to look bad.

The thing I like about 10th planet is that there is no official 10th planet moves. The 10th planet system is a system of moves, setups and submissions that works no matter who came up with it. If "Jeff" understood that he would be more open not only to 10th planet but to the new inovators of Jiu Jitsu instead of being stuck in the Gracie system of over 50 years ago. Don't get me wrong though, as white belts we have to start at the basics if we are going to really evolve to quality jiu jitsu players. If jiu jitusu is going to grow the game has to evolve and 10th planet is apart of that evolution.

Unfortunately a lot of people don't understand that though. They think 10th Planet is Rubber Guard, Twisters and Lockdown. People are starting to accept but there are a ton of haters still :/

I have been around martial arts for a while now. Couple things Ive learned. 1. I avoid conversations about what works or doesnt work. This way you never put someone (mainly an instructor) in a position they feel they need to defend their weak ideas or techs that simply dont work. Learn and practise everything they teach. Just to give it the best chance then throw it away if it doesnt work. 2. Be very carefull when beating a higher ranked student and especially an instructor. Everyone gets caught and some deal with that badly especially when they feel the person shouldnt have been able to catch them.

This guy sounds like a total d-bag to be talking behind your back but it sounds like there is already drama built into the situation. The dude is older than you, higher rank, dating your sister and he's a jerk. Then you catch him in a move he doesnt know, doesnt like and doesnt want to learn. Its a no win. Just avoid confrontation as much as you can. Ive never been to Alaska but I can imagine that you dont have a lot of good training options. It would suck to burn that bridge.
