    Pure 10th Planet Murderers?

Reading a lot of these forum posts about 10P not getting the respect it deserves or it's not a good system if someone doesn't do well in a tournament (as discussed, everyone doesn't do well in a tournament if there is only one 1st place). So I'm curious how many of our 10P warriors are "pure" (as in no previous BJJ, Judo, or any other art/sport affiliated with ground) 10P JJ players? I know Eddie's highlighted a few of our 10P Futures (Ant and Avery), are there any more? What's the highest ranking purebred and how have all our 10P purebreds been doing in competitions? Just to have an experiment to see how only learning 10P compares to having a BJJ background and then learning 10P. Because you'll also hear that any 10P warrior that does well has some sort of other background...blah blah blah...hate hate hate...envy envy envy...etc etc etc.

This is a good question, I would like to know as well very interesting.

Tyler and myself are 10th Planet purebreds. We had absolutely no experience what so ever. Tyler does well in tourneys.

I am purebred. I never trained in a gi, never wrestled, never grappled in any way before the first day I walked on to Eddie's mats. Every day of my grappling training has been under Eddie and he has directly handed me my blue, purple and brown belts.

It's a source of immeasurable pride for me.

(I should mention that I FULLY endorse and encourage cross-training under different instructors and systems... this is by no means an indictment of that approach. I simply haven't, for one reason or another, ended up on that path)

    I'm 100% pure 10th Planet, but I don't count as a competition success story.

10th planet Spokane was my 1st real grappling experience. I've been training there for around 2 1/2 years. I have 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze metals. My last tournament was the northwest submission challenge and it was the 1st one that i didn't take home a metal. That being said it was a combination of my ignorance and a couple tough guys from Keith Owen's gym. I wasn't looking to sweep as much as I was looking to submit and it cost me. Rick if you see this i hope i get to have another match with you and Abbas at the grapplers quest.
