Thanks Rachael! It was completely unexpected but I can't wait to get competing at the intermediate level legitimately now (my last competition was at intermediate just because I won beginner last fall).

    So cool!

Some of the tournies out here don't have an intermediate bracket for women - Just beginner and advanced which SUCKS. Go from competing with white belts to seasoned purples..yikes!

I think that really holds back some women from competing.

which tourneys have divisions by years of experience not belt? I dont plan to ever pursue a belt. I have tapped all the blue belts Ive rolled with, except two,(one had over 100 pounds on me) But i couldn't really tell you how good they were or I am since Im so new, I think I just tried harder honestly. There are unranked guys at my gym that I could never tap even if they didn't have 30lbs on me. (im 154)

The one I did Saturday for no -gi there was two divisions for women... Beg: up to 18 months and advanced: over 18 months. That's it.

and women have way less weight brackets too

That is true. Rarely do you get more than one other person in your experience and weight class. This is especially true for those above the novice beginner level in the Midwest but the number of women has increased a bit since I first started a year ago.

And we usually only have 3 weight classes. 136 and under, 136.1 - 158, and 158.1 and above.

It's a catch 22. I think less women compete because of it, which then only encourages it to be this way. Sucks! In fact, there isn't even going to be a womens brackets at all this year at Gracie Worlds. Rose said it is too tough to bracket chicks.
