Just start somewhere! It' incredible how much info is stored in the head in a short amount of time! Juggs vs Japan is a good documentary on training MMA and jitz in Japan. I haven't been myself, so that's the best advice I have, but there are probably a bunch of guys on here with good advice to give! So you're learning Japanese? I'm at a thousand Kanji using the Heisig method. I learn slowly but steadily. Reeeaal slow.. Haha.

I used to go to Shinjuku Sport Center where you can use the open mat space with a training partner. The entrance fee is very cheap.
