    ACL blown...now what?

So I tore my ACL (while rolling) on Saturday (foot got caught and guy rolled). Will go through all the BS of surgery and rehab, but anyone have any suggestions on things to do to keep in shape? (cardio is a big one and core).

I have some ideas, but want to keep it fresh so I don't get discouraged and bored.

Also, anything I can do, other than drooling over videos, to keep improving my jiu-jitsu?

I am just not looking forward to sitting on the sidelines for 6 to 9 months.

Tearing my acl is my worst nightmare. When I get knee injuries this is what I do.

    A: Damn!!!
B: One day someone is going to offer this as a class at a fitness studio.
C: I'm trying to heal, not re-injure myself.

That stuff is crazy. Knees injuries suck in general. I just got over one too, it was small and kept me out for 6 weeks and now I am looking at 6 to 9 months. Stay healthy and thanks for the video...it helped me pass some time.

Well I'm still recovering from an ACL replacement but I suggest start from 1 thru 39 mts series bro! Also I got. Ack on the mat after 2 weeks nothin crazy but all bottom defense plus a few attacks. Not gonna lie it's like torture gettin out of trouble non stop but my defense seems to be getting better. Don't sweat it injuries suck but they happen good luck with recovery.

Sorry to hear. Several of my friends have done it, some more than once. It's going to be a slow recovery. My suggestion is have the patients to let your body heal & rehab correctly. ...Going on 5 months with a simple broken foot (toe) myself-however I've avoided surgery. Nothing but pushups and pullups to stay in shape during this time.
ADCC 2011 dvd set and MTS keeps me busy. Having a girl/friend helps as it's hard to leave the house for some time.
...Avoid heel hooks, soccer, and snow sports for the rest of your life :/

    Take care of yourself.

Thanks all. I always avoid soccer, snow sports and heel hooks. Yeah it is hard to be patient...3 days and I already am going nuts.

Guess I will go hang with Cruz and have a beer.

If you think this will reinjure you, you have closed your mind. It takes along time to do what they do. Like me posting a marcelo vid. All im sayin is you dont have to be on the couch fo 9 months because its only 1 limb. You have three more, a head, and a core. Good luck

ACL is not torn, but my knee dislocated...again. They want to do MPFL surgery (Medial Patellofemoral Ligament) to help anchor my knee cap. The surgery is basically the same as an ACL, but uses a smaller ligament from under the leg. I am looking into alternatives (PT), but regardless will be out for 4 to 6 months. Hoping no surgery so I can bike (which I heard is one of the best things I can do) and jog.

This would also mean I could do like drills from the bottom as long as I don't put pressure on the foot and rotate the knee.

Well good luck with your recovery. If you train with good peeps they will work around your injury and you can still train but nothing hardcore! Hell I went to Eddies seminar at Indy at week 5 post op and everyone was cool!
