I hate the gi. I get owned in it. I can't use it. but I own a really cool one, Datsusara, black hemp gi! and I'll try to get better with it! And yeah, more comps, more mat time, and great for self defense! A very deep chaotic love-hate relationship with the gi I have...

My love hate for the Gi stems from the fact that i only train No Gi so when i use it I'm getting collar choked left and right...any one on here can admit the days were your getting choked out teach your he most but your definitely not having a good time. FOr me at least. But if you wanna be an elite grappler in the Jiu Jitsu Community you have to get GI training only 2 of the ADCC champs have been strictly No Gi guys.

Sorry my friend but that is a ludicrous statement. And I dont care if that is the god of no gi jiu jitsu, Marcelo's way of thinking. How many strict No Gi guys have been around before Eddie opened his schools? Obviously theres been Catch Wrestlers but how many of those guys were attempting to win No gi tournaments trying to get to ADCC level competition? Eddie opened his school around 10 years ago. Denny being the top competitor for 10th Planet, just got his black belt a couple years back, but its true theres hardly any no gi ADCC champions. But consider this, since strict no gi schools have only really been around for around 10 years, is it really likely that theres going to be a ton of ADCC champions?
My thoughts are kind of all over the place but my point is Gi BJJ has been around in the states for a good decade longer. Therefore the gi guys will more than likely be the top competitors. Once the strict No gi guys catch up Id be willing to bet we'll have many more champs

I'm actually a fan of the gi... it's fun and I think it is a useful tool in developing grip strength and it's a powerful mind sharpening tool for me... after rolling in a gi for a week and having to deal with tons of grips and handles... then no gi seems relatively easier for me... but that's just me

jeff monson didnt even train in a gi or in jui jitsu and still kicked butt at adcc back near 2000.. mark kerr did the same... I hate the gi myself and just started to train in it... It frustrating FORGET the no gi vs. gi crap it jui jitsu and as 10th planet we should take it and run with it...think just how many thing we can come up with to do with a gi as we have no gi....If 10th planet starts taking over gi as they are in no gi then peolple will be more open as we should too....
