I didn't get to watch the video that Mike posted above, but is it correct to say that your basics were built without the Gi? If so, that's a pretty strong argument for no Gi training being highly beneficial.
Also, I'd love to hear anything you're comfortable sharing about the training methodologies that Lloyd Irvin employs. I'm fascinated by what he is doing as a head coach. He's like the Phil Jackson of BJJ.
