I haven't seen this fight and I'm not going to. But I have always been perplexed by all the guida love out there. His style is awful, it makes a mockery of striking in MMA when you can get away with that. The guy takes retard too far. Dominic Cruz is another one I will never watch for he same reason. Great grapplers but their anti striking routine is a joke. Men don't fight like that.

You can skip rounds 2 & 3 and the first 3 minutes of the 4th. Clay was using an unorthodox style, ok...but then what? He successfully frustrated Gray and lured him into stalking him, but then what??? He did nothing to capitalize on the situation he was creating and therefore looked VERY boring. And I'm a Clay Guida fan! But that was just something I never want to watch again. Props to Gray for controlling the center of the octagon and trying to make a fight happen. I wish he would have thrown some leg kicks in an effort to cut off the cage from Guida, for ex. fake Left Hook, right kick to the body, straight left knee up the pipe, or something to that effect. Gonna have to agree with the judges on this one.

This sums it up perfectly. Clay won the first and maybe the second, but after that he stopped scoring entirely. Gray landed very little until the 4th but when you have to choose between 3 Gray power punches vs Clay turning his back and running for his life, there's only one way you can go.

Guida was too afraid to commit and just flung out strikes. You throw out fast punches yeah, but there isn't any power behind it. It's also hard to generate power out of those weird angles. He should just drop down to featherweight. He is one of the smaller lightweights and the size disadvantage is obvious when he trades shots in the pocket.

what Cruz does to most of his opponents). Clay was just using his foot work to be evasive and failed at utilizing to set up any effect offense. Maynard wins it.

I think Clay actually stole a potentially entertaining fight for the fans.

Maybe Guida though his style would tire Maynard out in the later rounds at which point he would make his move but..... that didn't happen. so smart fighting has a place in mma, but only if you knock his ass out with it. If you don't KO him with it than everyone is just going to see you possibly as running away for the whole fight.
