I came across this very interesting video today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e864iZ4sB8Q and (Correct me if im wrong) but Eddie always says that he cares the most about how jiu jitsu looks in MMA and on the streets. Im just wondering should 10th planet incorporate more of this "street jiu jitsu" because the way Rener and Ryron are describing jiu jitsu in the streets is like a completley different thing then "Sport jiu jitsu" so I wanna hear everyones opinions and ecspecially Eddies, Herzogs, and the rest of the 10th planet coaches on wether or not 10th planet should focus as much as HALF of there jiu jitsu to street fighting and the other half to sport jiu jitsu

By default I think it does. Rubber guard is all about distance control. Had that guy learned posture break/ rubber guard. The strikes that he endured would have been minimal. Half guard perfect doubles, controls the distance. Just try and get a good punch on a guy that has you trucked. I wanted to post a snide comment about rubber guard on thier FB page, but refrained. They are not opposed to rubber guard, so I think it is just a mattter of time before they incorporate it into what they teach for street.

Agreed, it sounds to me their "street Jiu-jitsu" is the tight clinching style of grappling that Eddie always preaches.

I guess the real question is why don't you dress like Raiden everyday? Nobody fucks with the Thunder God.

I would say no because most street fights are not going to require you to understand such complex moves as 10th planet. That said I do believe there are many moves in the 10th planet system which could be used very effectively in a street fight. And on top of it all, in a street fight. I don't want to grapple with someone who could possibly have a knife or other weapon. Check out Jeet Kune Do or Krav Maga which also use moves from Jiu Jitsu and many other fighting styles.

No leave the lethal street fighting for Krav maga junkies. Anybody who masters the 10th planet system will do just fine in any street fight. Want to get lethal add ball punches and kicks, eye pokes, and maybe biting if your really serious.
