Congrats to both Eddie and Joe on this promotion. I think there is plenty to take from this event. The fact that Joe has been a brown belt that long, speaks volumes about how mentally tough and how strong he is, to just keep trekking forward and embracing training as his reward, rather than the belt itself being the destination. Obviously, it is the journey that matters.
The fact that Eddie and Joe are such great mates, speaks volumes about their relationship where mutual respect is so obvious.
How hard it must have been for Eddie to hold back and be able to separate himself emotionally from the pressure of wanting so bad for your best mate, to be a black belt. Props to both men for displaying all that means so much to me as a martial artist.
In a world filled with so much ego related distraction. It was so great to see it clearly non existent in this video and throughout this promotion. Thank you both! It has lifted us all and I'm grateful to have seen it, and, more importantly, to be a part of it.
