Hey guys, just joined the forum yesterday. Guess I'll tell a little about myself, I'm 29yrs old & am from Oklahoma. I'm a draftsman, married & have 2 beautiful daughters(8yrs old & 4yrs old). I live in Skiatook but train in Tulsa at Mikey's Gym owned by Mikey Burnett. I have been training my ground game under him for the past 3yrs. Me & my close friend Greg will be making a trip out to L.A. in July and plan to drop in the HQ @ Burbank to get some roll time in & possibly a few privates. Greg has been with Mikey a little longer than me & we are looking to expand our game. We look forward to meeting & rolling with you guys. Greg is who introduced me to the 10th planet system & I'm eager to learn. Its a completely different style than I'm used to & I believe it'll really help my grappling progress. This will be my first time to travel to another gym outta state to train so I'm super excited about the experience & to learn some new techniques.

Hey Brandon, you might have talked to Greg already. I know he just came back from Florida & I believe he said he hit up the hotbox in Miami if I remember correctly. He always finds a gym to train at when he travels. I know I have seen your name on his friends list for facebook. I actually borrowed the 10th planet All Stars DVD from him last night to watch.

Unfortunately we were not able to link up with Greg. We just got back to the mats last week coming off injuries. Have a good time in Cali, one of these days we will get to make the pilgrimage.

Well last night Mikey honored me with my blue from him & Greg received his brown. Mentally I'll always be a white belt though as the learning curve for jiu jitsu & life never ends. But it is nice to have hard work, dedication & progress recognized. Now the quest for purple begins. Cant wait for our trip up to see you guys in Burbank in a few weeks. Thankx. It is a honor to train under him. He isn't the old angry Mikey of the UFC days anymore & actually he really doesn't like to talk about those times in his life much. He has really focused on changing his life to positive, being a good father, brother, friend, coach & all around person. He really is a true martial artists, always open to learn new techniques from all different arts & is into digging into the cultures as well. He is a well of knowledge & will so willingly share for those who will listen, very humble man.
I actually talked to him on myspace for about a year before I ever got enough guts to come into the gym. When I finally did he welcomed me with open arms & made sure I was welcome & comfortable. He really likes to run his gym like a family. We are all brothers, we all check our ego at the door & come in to learn, not prove who the alpha male is. It has changed my life, changed my attitude, improved my marriage & physical health.
