He has countless numbers of DVD's and books on street defense, mma , knife combat and much more. He is for sure a legit badass. Gabby no kidding, I'm pretty sure I watched that match, You kept your cool because I didn't see that going on. I'm sure I would have had to take the DQ. I was already for the lecture on the way home from my dad. I said are you mad at me? He said no , Disapointed !. I said why because I shouldn't have reacted that way. He said no, because you didn't drop elbows like I taught you....way more effective than punch's and you don't risk breaking your hand.lol.

He was kidding ....kind of. He said he has always taught me to stick up for myself, never back down, never look for a fight, but know that I have the tools to finish one if I need to. He can't be mad at me for doing what I have been taught to do.

So we found some no rules at the club, Sign on door tonight read,

Leave shoes and your ego at the door.
Scratching, Biting,Pinching or anything else along those lines will not be tolerated
Those who break those rules must be prepared to be knocked out or chocked out

Iv been bitten by dogs and people and that shit fucking hurts like nothing else, and it takes a hell of a bite to draw blood. Your one cool calm and collected dude if you only hit him once!

As for the mulleted guy with the hilarious background setting, it may of looked pretty funny, and sounded pretty funny, but I learnt from it. I know what to do if someone tries to bite my arm when I RNC them. The fish hook is already my go to move.

Don - Thanks man! Your post was enlightening. However, I would probably take an ass kicking, before I would ever stick a dick in my mouth...but anyways seriously my instructor, Gary Hoyd has trained and taught JKD for years and I myself have dabbed into it using it for MMA striking, clinch, etc for over a year now under his tutelage. Calling us idiots for not knowing who a guy is, after watching this particular video of him describing nibbling on your opponents arm, is insane man. I cant help it....i thought it was funny. I guess I could see myself doing this when i had no other options in a street fight where someone experienced was able to get back control...but the way he described the technique was funny and seemed a bit ridiculous. But I stand humbled now that i know who Paul Vunak is...shame on me...one up for u pointing out someone who can kick my ass. Good job! I just don't get the dick in the mouth thing...lol

Just jumping in since I'm proud to say Uncle Vu is my JKD instructor. In the you-tube video, Paul is showing a tiny bit of the art of Kino Mutai (sometimes spelled kina mutai), which is the Filipino art of uninterrupted biting and eye-gouging. Kino Mutai techniques do not rely on biting alone. When mixed with a decent understanding of bjj ground control (Paul suggests a purple belt at least to make it seriously work) and strongly developed grip strength, it is one horrible thing to go up against. He teaches several flow patterns with a series of vicious bites to the face, neck, nipple, groin, etc. while moving through the standard bjj positions and submissions. It is an extension of the R.A.T. (Rapid Assault Tactics) system he teaches based on his experience teaching h2h with SEAL Team Six in Virginia Beach a number of years ago.

The purpose is to cause damage and mind-stopping panic to create some distance so that you can facilitate and escape and get back up to your feet. One of the keys is to secure your hold and position BEFORE and DURING the bite and or eye-gouge so that you can continue the bite uninterrupted for 5-10 seconds of tearing. If you just bite someone, they get pissed and fight harder (ala the Machine's story) but if you grab hard on to someone and tear at their face with your incisors for 10 seconds they end up panicking and want nothing more than to get away from you... which can open up space even against larger and more skilled opponents. Mind you, this is only for a real fight where your life or the life of someone you love is in danger.

As an aside Paul was studying with Rorion and Royce back in the garage days and was actually with the Gracie's corner at UFC #1. He will tell you the story of how he learned Kino Mutai in response to training with them for years. As he slowly realized he would never be able to best them... because no matter how good he got, they would also be getting better... he decided to look for a way to "cheat". Dan Inosanto lead him to the study of Kino Mutai and Paul integrated it with the bjj he was learning to create what he saw as a more effectively vicious street art.

I have a secret wish/plan to meet Eddie Bravo someday and introduce him to Paul on one of my training trips out to Sunny Cal. I am soooo sure the two would dig each other's raps and teaching methodologies and would love to see 10thpjj integrated into the evolution of JKD and Kino Mutai and for the best 10thpjj to expand beyong mma into the RBSD world.

I hear you conner. I prolly wouldn't punch him in the face because I'm a naturally nice guy. I would be like wtf man that ain't Jiu Jitsu. Although I used to roll with my instructor Hailey who was a Carlos Machado purple belt and weighed 250 pounds and he would do some crazy stuff like choke you with his hands, pinch your legs to pass your guard, dig his fingers into your body, head butting techniques from far away, etc etc. Hey thats all cool. It makes me more aware of street situations. Im tough I can handle it. But biting is a bit to far. I'd say "hey man look if you have a problem with me maybe we shouldn't roll anymore" " If you can't accept that then I'm sorry because you know I can bust that ass at anytime". Just flow with it from their man . 50 vaults a day remember that slogan. It'll help. Peace.

Thanks for the post Jimmy! Great info. I have to be honest, when I first watched the video, I couldnt take it seriously and at first thought it was a joke. You explaining the reasoning behind the "biting technique" makes it all more understandable and reasonable, especially emphasizing that this is a "life in danger" street battle technique. Way better than suggesting we should stick a dick in our mouths for not knowing who a guy is and joking about the nibbling technique part in the video. It seems Don just wanted brownie points by belittleing us for not knowing who Paul is. Don says he is a nice guy, maybe he is...but it is hard to believe that after his harsh post.

I'm a pretty peaceful guy and it takes a fair amount to rile me up, but I for sure would lose my shit on some guy if he BIT me while rolling! You're a saint for not unloading more than you did. That said, I'm not sure who would be more pissed if that happend at Empire -- me or coach! That clown would probably be walking out needing stiches at a minimum and you can bet that would be last time that dude EVER set foot in the door.
