    Failed lock down

    I am currently starting my class with no gi and today I trained and tried to got the lock down.
    When I extended my legs to squeeze, I lost immediately the lock down. I am 6,23 foot (1,90m) tall, so I am wondering if this is not a problem for such technique.
    Maybe I just have not to go too deep, but I think this will decrease my efficency for further techniques, isn't it?
    I knew 10th Planet System needs as much flexibility as possible, but I hope my size will also not be problematic

    hmm....i bet the guy is just to high up on you when you do it if that makes sense. If you have his right leg, make sure you bring your left leg over his right leg around the back of his knee and then do the lockdown and stretch him out. im 6' which isnt too tall but i go against guys much shorter than me usually and thats what i do. use your right hand to push on his hips and also keep him from getting to high up on you. i hope that helps and makes sense lol

    My buddy is a 6'3 heavy weight and if anything his size has helped. Because of his size and strength hes not on the bottom a lot but in drills he doesnt have any problem pulling lockdown.

    I have pretty lanky legs and I had the same problem at first. I just put in the reps and made sure I was squeezing my knees inward as tight as I could. Its all about the squeeze/clinch. Try clinching and extending and see how it works out for you.

    Hey just listen to me I will tell you. I love lockdown. I also love Pizza. Its very good. But for real yo. Wear gi pants first. It will tighten your game up and you will be like Eddie. Eddie is a cool mother fucker. I love most kinds of dogs. I am around 5 foot 10 so my legs are longer than alot of guys. It seems like when your legs are longer and you try to extend all the way your foot and leg is just to damn long to keep their ankle hooked there. So listen I will tell you a secret. SQUEEZE. Boom I'm going for the whip up. Boom I'm going for the electric chair. Boom I'm going for the full guard. Boom I'm going for the godfather sweep. And just recently boom I'm going for the prison guard right into the the calf crank and if he rolls boom I roll into the truck and guess what I still got that bastard calf crank. I'm just a guy thats almost been training a year. I'm holding all types of blue belts in my lockdown. I get "hey you got a good lockdown" alot. I have to have my cup of coffee before I roll. It gives me energy. Stay away from Mcdonalds it will kill you. Do P90x it works. Enjoy your Jiu Jitsu and your life. Have fun with your Lockdown friend.

    You are right, with gi it is better (already practiced), but I thought Gi / no Gi would not have any influence on lock down.
