I would add that when I train in the GI it makes passing from half harder due to the increased friction from the pants, when I switch to nogi it feels way easier to pass (especially against big guys who have a weak half and are content to just sit there and deathlock their legs)
I also find it promotes better hip movement because of the added friction (more so on the bottom when dudes are grabbing at your pants)
