    Competition Goals... Or Winning?

We all want to win, right? But is it important to you to win a certain way or to be able to perform/attempt a specific technique/position in competition?

If so, does it depend on the competition? Will you have certain goals for certain competitions depending on the magnitude?

I just want to have a good showing, be competitive. Of course I've never gone into anything with the mindset that I will not be successful, jiu jitsu being no different: if I get on the mat with you, I never think that I can't tap you. Winning is great and the feeling of getting a tap is even better, but at this point in my journey, in competition I'll be happy to not get caught with the same set-ups that I've been tapped with before in competition. And so far, I have took my shortcomings from competition earlier this year and learned from them.

As of now, Ill typically try to win my first match any way that presents itself.. And then after that, I tend to make it a point to experiment with anything new Ive been learning. Just to make sure I have a full grasp of the technique Ive been practicing. As for winning/losing.. Im probably the least competitive person in the world. So trying new things comes a bit more naturally to me i think.

hmm thats an interesting question.I think for me it would depend on how big the competition is. If its Worlds im just going for the win. If its a local competition I might play around a little more.

Believe in what I know and learn to be more technically aggressive with my finishing.

There is beauty and style in this as well. Efficiency is awesome and so much fun. All the really sexy moves are so much hotter when not forced and perfectly timed.

The only issue I have is the goal should be to finish. Controlling and surviving is not that pretty and more of a grind, hence, not as fun. If it feels really good it usually looks good and both goals are accomplished. So yes I roll to win. How do I like to win? I like to finish. Then I am happy
