First time ever to his academy or meeting my bjj idol. elevTor opened there he was just starting to pick up water soaked mats from a massive leak that started from the floor above. I immediTely droppes my gear n started helping try an salvage what was left of his mats...shortly after more n more students started pOuring in to help.

The problem may not be if he has insurance or not the problem might be Bruce wont get to train with him. Did you make a special trip? Do you live close by? I know I would be crushed to make a trip from Oregon to NY to find the place wrecked.

Damn man mats are super expensive, it's funny that all you really need for a jits school is mats, but there also super expensive and costs thousands, especially the good custom mats he has. & who knows what type of bulshit he has to deal with with all the new york regulations, building codes, permits, inspections ect, plus the fucking mold from the water, he may be better off changing locations because it could be months before he's operational again. & New York realetors are so fucking greedy and crazy they may actually try to charge him for the remaining months on his lease. even though there responsible for the plumbing.

I just wanted to pop in n meet an icon I was workin in the city doin business n knew his academy was there. Unfortunately that was a very bad situation. Marcelo n I picked up a bunch of mats together, I tried to help him out as much as I could. Even as bad as the situation was Marcelo was still smiling. amazing!! It was truly an honor jus there just being able to help him out like that

I can't believe that, because if you've ever seen, or heard a Marcelo interview, he's always saying how much time, and how much of his life goes into his school, and students, so for this to happen it must really be a downer on him.Imma try to do something for him...

dam that sucks. i doubt the mats get ruined from water though. but the whole floor and walls might have to be gutted if it was real bad. that could set him back several months.

Same shit happend to my club on Friday. I walk in to open it up before class & the people who farm the field next to the building had a sprinkler malfunction and blasted some of the roof off the gym and soaked everything. Just bought 12 pro mma zebra mats a couple months ago plus all the other cheaper ones I had in there. Now I am dealing with the insurance company guy that says he doesn't think the mats could really cost $170 a mat plus shipping. And no place to train for the next month or so. I feel that shit Marcelo.
