Typical Dana; hinting at it, but not confirming it. I'm also thinking that Silva has the leverage on the final word, so we'll see.
I'm thinking Silva's camp is ducking Weidman to force him into taking another fight. I'm not sure if Weidman can afford to wait until Silva feels like fighting.
Weidman is a dangerous matchup and I think Silva's camp knows it. I don't think Anderson is the one ducking. Maybe he is, but I'm thinking it's his camp who knows the Silva stock will take a hard dive if he loses to Weidman. Right now he's the king. He can pick and choose. He has the legend aura. A loss to Weidman, a kid with only a 9 fight record, is going to make him look really bad.
So, yeah. I'm thinking this is a strategy to force Weidman to take a fight. Which, in my opinion, he should. He needs another highlight worthy fight to make audiences care. He should also take another fight to confirm the hype is real. But if (big if) he does get the next title fight, I wouldn't be upset.
"We haven't done anything yet. Anderson said he wants to take some time off until after the end of this year, [then] we'll start talking to him. [Chris Weidman] is in a great spot. The kid looked fantastic, demolished the number three guy. Demolished in spectacular fashion. He's got the right to call out whoever he wants [but] he's gonna have to wait, or fight, because Anderson's gonna fight after the end of the year."
