Ronda Rousey - 1 meal per day diet

    http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news...-per-day-diet/

Ronda is now on a diet that involves 1 meal per day. The theory is she will have more energy to work on an empty stomach than a full one. Just curious to hear your opinions on the matter.

I think it is mental since it goes against how the human body works. But if she feels it works for her then run with it. I know a buddy of mine condenses all his meals to about 5 hours and he is yoked and he loves it. Works for him.

I don't think any ONE diet works for everyone. If her dietician worked out a plan that works for her and it helps her maintain the weight and strength she needs for her MMA career, then more power to her.

She is closer to what we were designed for. It's not as if people were ordering a big Mac and large fries with a milkshake two or more times a day, a few hunded years ago.

We are designed to go days without food. We are designed to eat small amounts of natural things, and make them last a long time. A handfull of berries here, a chunck of meat there, a few nuts/seeds, etc.

We are certainly not designed to eat a full rack of ribs with a lobster tail and a platter of garlic butter shrimp! (Sounds good, though, doesn't it? lol) Especially day in and day out. The food we eat is killing us. North America is the best-fed continent in the world, and also the sickest.

Anyways, our bodies use up a majority of it's energy breaking down foods, separating the poisons and toxins from the vitamins and nutrients, and distributing it all throughout our body. A large majority of energy is used with the digestion/dispersion process. Well after you have eaten lunch, your body is still using energy to take care of breakfast. That's why animals that are wounded in the wilderness will go lay down and fast until they heal, only taking water.

Anyone can live like that. Anyone can do it. It just takes a mental commitment, and when you feel hungry, chug down some water, and the hunger-pangs will go away.

This is goal-dependent. I have heard of many people having success with using a compressed eating window, particularly when concerned with leaning out. Ronda is in a weight-class dependent sport, so it seems to make sense. If you're trying to bulk up, you'll have a heck of tough time stuffing all of the necessary calories into your stomach in one meal.

This is akin to the Warrior Diet and if she's not eating until dinner time every day, then she's practicing intermittent fasting, which is awesome for life extension. Haven't messed with it while doing jitz full time, but interesting....

People commenting on the site complain about only eating once?...I don't see any problem with this tbh. I grew up basically living off one meal..Some people called it a diet, I just called it poverty.
