    Lockdown from bottom using inside leg-out, instead of outside leg-in

    Normal lockdown is to put your outside leg in, and then kinda figure-4-ish into your inner leg, then to stretch your inner leg to your opponents foot/calf, thus creating a normal lockdown.

    There has been times when this isn't possible, and I've had to settle with the opposite leg configuration, putting my inside leg out, and kinda figure-4-ish into my outer leg, stretching my outer leg to the opponent's foot/calf.

    I was wondering if there is any difference to this position, and the reason why. If its interchangeable, then that's great.

    I've been told the inside lockdown is better for sweeps and outside is better for subs and taking the back. I dont ever use it but I imagine it could be interchangeable. I think it depends on your game

    Have someone put you in it backwards. Then sweep your foot sideways to your ass. You're out. Only thing stoppin's this is a foot curl.

    I use it to finish arm triangles from my back but that's about it.

    I have always been told that posish is a figure four half guard. I have never seen anyone get stuck there for more than a few seconds but its jiu jitsu. Crazier things have happened. Like people tapping from the Lockdown.
