EDIT: I see you already answered these questions up above
I'll try to be the guinea pig for this one...My bro's a good size bigger than me so I'll have him left me try this out a while...It might be a little alright to try, especially if a guy tries to pass your lockdown once, and then the second time you lockdown this way, so it might throw your opponent off just enough to switch back, and try something out.

I don't think knees are meant to twist that way.

Having had knee surgery I wince when watching. Not saying it is bad or ineffective, It's just personally I don't think I would use it.

If you like controlling the foot from that side, I can understand that to a degree. Why not place the heel of your right foot (rather than your toes) on that side of your opponents shin instead? This will allow you to pull with your hamstring, locking him into a very effective calf crank with little to no stress on your own knee.

If I recall correctly, I believe Eddie tapped a guy out with this calf lock in competition as a Blue Belt. I think I saw that in "The Twister."

I found this tech when I was a white belt on accident. Like a kamikaze calf crank from lockdown. I thought I was gonna wreck fools with it. I have never used it since. My game is simplifying as it complexes. Or maybe I just perceive it that way.

I think that must be part of the Purple Belt growth. I am purposefully shrinking my game. Expansion by contraction. Depth over breadth.

Crazy cause thats exactly what Im doing. I used to be a huge technique collector. Now im completely shrinking it down to key submissions and positions

I have very very long thing legs, most of my opponents are much shorter than me. It is very difficult for me to secure lockdown on most people, and I just have to rely on the knee squeeze for control. I also have a semi perpetually sprained ankle on my good side so it makes lockdown even harder. Because of these reasons, I will commonly switch to this version just to pull their leg down so I can get a proper lockdown, or shift my hips or start initiating stomp series manuvers. although I will rarely use my toes to hook like this, because its far too much stress when someones sprawling that leg counter to it(like if they buttocks compressor).

Instead, I will move the inside leg out like that, and plant my heel down, then slide my heel crecent motion inward to get hooked and Z bend their leg, move my heel onto their heel , and work a stomp to throw in butterflys because at this point theres mega space. I don't think Id be able to hold it very long as shown in the video, but my busted ankle might contribute to why...

That'd be cool. Definitely not trolling. I'm presenting a concern. I like it in theory, but I just feel like it puts your knee in danger and the opponent's knee isn't. Running through scenarios in my head, if I start to feel my knee twist the wrong way, I'd unwrap and go back to regular LD. But in that split second, I'm giving the opponent a chance to pass. But if you can get there and whip up to your side quickly, I think the stress on your knee would be relieved.

I'd say develop it man. Don't take it as negative criticism. Take it like, maybe you're onto something you just need to keep tweaking it. Come up with ways to take the knee out of danger. Show its effectiveness. Because if it's really that good, I'd like to use it too. I'm just not trying to risk my knees on it. I didnt' try rubber guard until my teacher taught me how to avoid knee stress. So yeah.
