Weird rules turned the fight into a NC. Soccer kicks are allowed to a downed opponent as long as the ref says "yeah hes coherent enough go for it". So weird

BS call. If it's a legal blow, it's a legal blow. It's up to the ref to stop it, which he should've jumped in immediately when he saw homeboy faceplant. SMH. Killer finish though.

thanks for posting this, i only heard about the fight on mmajunkie, but to actually see the "end" in slo-mo, it's pretty obvious Arlovski was closing in for the kill and the Maine-iac was saved by a ridiculously retarded rule - the evolution of MMA needs not just better judging and reffing, but also needs to move away from gimmicky rules that just hurt the game. it just seems like such an amateur idea to have to ask the ref if you can hit your opponent.
