What's the 10th Planet stance on "Arm In" chokes? Do you side more with Marcelo's philosophy or Cobra Kai/Sim/Laimon?

You guys were talking about bjj in the Olympics and you brought up the point that they would probably have to drop the "brazilian" part to get it excepted easier. Also submission grappling might be an easier route (which would be even better for the 10th planet guys!). Wasnt Catch an Olympic category in Wrestling?

"Enjoy the process cause thats going to keep you coming back." I agree with that 100% Starting off I was caught up in that kind of mentalitly but as I mature in the grappling game I realize that the process is all part of the fun.

I cant really speak on all of 10th Planet but my own personal opinion. I'm constantly working on my squeeze and clinch so I can finish the chokes like the Darce and Arm Triangle. If I can finish those chokes even though the arm is in, imagine how quick the straight chokes will be finished. And I agree cutting out those submissions completely, Youre kinda missing out on a solid submission that you can set up literally anywhere.

I'm not sure if Catch was ever in the Olympics. I know Pancrase was. It'd be cool to see that come back into the Olympics. MMA has an even more international success rate than jiujitusu does. From my understanding that matters to the IOC.

It's awesome that you're enjoying the ride. Like Sim and many others I agree that you need to enjoy the process. It's not like getting a blackbelt is the end of your grappling life! You'll learn more after your blackbelt than before it.

What do other 10 Planeteers think of the "to choke or not to choke question"?
