I live in Los Angeles and I've had the privilege of seeing Joe Rogan's live stand up many times. I also watch the Joe Rogan Experience podcasts religiously. I respect that he does this, but he's always trying to use new material in his stand up. This usually results in sets that aren't that amusing as he didn't have time to develop them as much as his earlier material. Also noticed that he uses a lot of material he came up with during his podcasts and just embellishes upon them. Don't get me wrong, he's a great entertainer, but I think it might be better to go to the Gladiator Challenge. I was dying laughing while watching his stand up video "talking monkeys in space" but i have yet to go to one of his live stand ups that were even close to that level of humor. Also, I noticed during the later shows (10 or 1030PM), he'll be very drunk/high and he'll kind of be all over the place. Not that I'm one to judge him as I'm usually not sober myself, but being that high on stage comes off as being kind of sloppy. One good thing might be that you'll get to take pics with him after his show and possibly have a quick chat.

R Just watch his previous or live podcasts on ustream (or itunes) and you'll most likely hear a lot of the jokes he'd use during his standups. Go to the Gladiator Challenge instead.
