I need to get this out, the true story about Jacare and Alliance. Hopefully once you read this, you’ll understand why I did what I did and acted how I acted. I’m asking for nothing more than forgiveness and the opportunity to move forward.
I just hope what happened to me does not happen to anyone else who leaves Alliance. I moved to Alliance in 2009, as a purple belt, seeking a school that would allow me to reach my dreams, to become a black belt world champion.
After close to 3 years living and training full time at the Alliance Headquarters in Atlanta GA, I made the tough decision that it was time to leave. I left for may reasons, many of them are listed here.
When I decided it was time to tell Jacare (head instructor/owner) I was leaving the school and moving I texted him and explained that we needed to meet.
We met in a partially finished building and Lucas Lepri was there, although I Jacare did not ask me if I wanted to speak with him in private or not. Now thinking back I’m VERY glad he was there and I’ll explain why later.
Before I met with Jacare, he had reminded me of the seminar fee I owed him. I had held a week long seminar a week eariler in Ireland. I brought the $700 in cash and handed it to him first, before we got into the conversation.
We briefly talked about how my contract ( I worked for him for 1 year as Association Manager) had ended and how he was unhappy that I was not continuing to work for him. I was unhappy at the same time because I thought the salary he was offering was way too low.
In the months prior we had been negotiating my salary and we were not agreeing. We were too far apart to reach a compromise, and I could tell things were going south and that we would have to part ways.
At this point there is a pause in the conversation so I sieze it and I start to tell Jacare that I’m leaving the school.
Me -“Jacare I respect you a lot as a instructor and look up to you a lot, and thats why I wanted to sit you down and tell you in person”
“I’m leaving the school to go train with a different team for a lot of different reasons, and I’m sorry that I could not make things work here”
The first thing Jacare said was
“I never trusted you, and I knew you were a traitor”
As soon as he said that I immediately knew what I was in for, the same treatment two of my best friends and training partners got a week earlier when they were kicked out of the school and banned from Alliance for reasons that I still do not understand.
So I stood up and said respectfully
Me - “ok Jacare I just wanted to tell you respectfully like a man”
At this point I was shaking, and disturbed that he would snap on me, the same man that I looked up to like a father.
So I walked towards the door to leave.
Jacare ran in front of me, pushed me violently and frantically locked the door screaming
Jacare – “I’m not done with you yet you piece of shit”
Lucas Lepri was holding me back, all I wanted to do was escape the building, and I actually feared for my life. I didn’t want to hear the man, who I once called a close friend, mentor and father figure tell me I was a “fucking piece of shit”
Lucas held me by my waist as Jacare stood there with his finger in my face yelling at me saying these words to me:
Jacare - “You’re not a brown belt anymore”
“We’re [Alliance] sending people after you”
“I’m going to have people break your fucking arms at tournaments you mother fucker”
He then told me I’m banned from the team, and he said if I ever went to brazil I’m dead.
Jacare finished with saying “I’m done with you, you fucking piece of shit”
He unlocked the door and I left.
I went back to my apartment and threw out anything that reminded me of Jacare and Alliance.
I was so angry, so I started filming DVD’s and filmed everything I had learned at Alliance. I wanted to release that information that wasn’t commonly available and share all the Alliances moves I had learned and get back at Jacare. I made the decision to seek revenge.
And now that I think about it, my online DVD’s have nothing to do with Cobrinha.
I feel horrible that I even included Cobrinha in any of this, he had nothing to do with it.
It’s just so hard to imagine someone that i looked up to so much say the things that he said to me. If it wasn’t for Lucas being there I don’t know what would have happened.
Sorry Cobrinha, again this had nothing to do with you.

Countless others before me had been banned and slandered: Roberto Travern, Comprido, Felipe Costa, Leo Veira, and anyone else who left Alliance.
