I mean, Jordon's making a smart political move by appearing transparent and appearing to take the high road with the public apologies. He obviously plans on getting rich off jiu jitsu and wants to be around a long time. So, just like in politics, it's smart to get your dirt out in the public and spin it before it can be spun against you. That way, if he continues and makes a bigger name for himself, he's green.

Derrick, I feel you. But I'm also not in a position to say that a dude who's worked hard hasn't earned a right to ask to get paid.
i hear ya! but listening to Jacare talk about the situation it sounds like the kid needed money and Jacare let him run his organization to give him a job and put some money in his pocket, & i'm sure Jordan made money from jacare's siminars & he paid the man late, overall it sounds like Jacare did a lot for that dude & the kid is acting like jiujitsu schools are rolling in doe, " no pun lol " most schools can't afford to hire employees so there usually family driven and people are willing to work for free. just the word "salary" sounds like he's asking for a lot. since most salaried positions start a 25,000 a year & hourly positions are usually 14,000 a year, i wonder how much he was making.

Good points. Exactly why I know there's another side to the story.

Also, wanting to be the best is no excuse for being a dick training partner and on top of that rolling with ringworm.

I understand he wants to make money, but I'm not sure if he went about it the right way. Communication is a bitch when it comes to a combination of money and emotions.

That's what im taking away from this -- hes man enough to admit he was a dick, but it feels like hes only doing it to help his image which is obviously relevant to sales. When his side of the story makes him sound like an asshole, I can only wonder how he comes off hearing Jacare's side... Its all a world away from me and I have no insight other than this post and the content in it, so I shouldn't even state my opinion let alone come to a judgement on him, but c'est la vie.

I had this talk with my coach about this. The thing that is so mess up about this is how he treated his training partners. You must be a real dick to roll with dudes knowing full well that you have ringworms on you.

Jacare even gave him a seminar with a payment plan lol, Jordan is lucky to have so many options in jiujitsu, & no one should ever complain about making money off jiujitsu it's a privilage not a wright. & anyone that allows you to make "money" doing jiujitsu deserves a big thanks, thank you Gracie Family ! for the mad jobs you created not just in jiujitsu but in all of MMA.
The only thing ive gotten from teaching is a free membership and I was totally content with that

I actually attended a webinar that Jordan hosted the other day. Aside from the Irvin marketing ((Which I can't fault. It is what it is and I respect Llyod Irvin and his students.)) He seemed very helpful and nice despite the fact that he seemed very tired. Seems to me that he is putting in the work. Got one of his ebooks and its been very helpful in outlining drilling for me. Even more so then Andre Galvao's book but I might be suffering from shock at losing that book. /sigh

At any rate. I can't fault the dude and I can't fault Jacare but with how he handled himself I would have likely been quite ticked myself. All in all a sad situation.
