The rule for cutting a small amount of weight (5-10 lbs):
The night before the weigh-ins you stop eating and drinking.
Check your weight every few hours. You should lose several pounds from not eating or drinking overnight.
Only a few hours before the weigh-in, throw a plastic bag on and a sweatshirt over it and sweat out whatever is left.
Cut the weight as close to the weigh-in time as you can. The shorter amount of time you spend dehydrated, the less the dehydration will affect you. If you are only dehydrated for a few hours, the dehydration will likely not affect you. While you are cutting, stay away from saunas and hot-tubs because they sap your strength (or so my old wrestling coach used to tell me).
If you have more weight to go than 10 lbs, I would definetley try to diet down to within 10-15 lbs. It takes experience to cut more water than that because your brain can start thinking self-defeating thoughts when dehydrated.
