    50/50 again!

I routinely get into 50/50 with one training partner in particular. Neither of us does it on purpose, we just end up there. I have used youtube to its fullest, and chances of getting a 50/50 expert up here to help us out are slim to none.

    Questions:
    1. how often are you in 50/50
    2. do you get there intentionally or does it just happen.
    3. Do you look to sweep, pass, on submit from there. Offense or Defense.
    4. Can you get out most times or does it end in a Tap.
    5. Is your gym actively training 50/50
    6. is your 50/50 game improving or stale and good enough.
    7. What is your personal 50/50 advice.

We really don't allow heel hooks finishes in class, but we can hold them lightly and allow the other person to work an escape if they want to try.

I end up there sometimes. Never by intention but sometimes my opponents put me in it. If it's there I'll look for the Heel Hook but typically I'm just looking to defend and pass.

    Here's a cool 50/50 attack I've been drilling recently.

Thanks for the vid. I heard about an armlock from 50/50. We were trying to figure out how the other day, and that is basically what we thought it was.

    1. how often are you in 50/50
-at least once every other roll.
    2. do you get there intentionally or does it just happen.
    -Both
    3. Do you look to sweep, pass, on submit from there. Offense or Defense.
    -Submit submit submit
    4. Can you get out most times or does it end in a Tap.
-One of us usually ends up tapping.
    5. Is your gym actively training 50/50
    -Yes every day
    6. is your 50/50 game improving or stale and good enough.
-ALways new tricks to learn but Im comfortable with my attacks.
    7. What is your personal 50/50 advice.
-Take what he gives you...there should be a sub there no matter which way they position their feet. Also...attack, attack attack!! SOmetimes just attacking your opponenet forces them into defense mode so the more you attack the better position you will be in. I know of at least 10-15 subs from this position so no matter which way your opponent goes you should have something. Start with 3 or 4 subs and just drill them\try them live for a few months...then find your trouble spots and add on.

I'm not a 50/50 guru, all I can say is don't cross your ankles to hide the foot. You will get cloverleafed. I believe in foot on top of foot. It hides the foot from inverted heel hooks and leaves your other foot available for kicking away the arms too.

If you can't hit an inside heel hook because of class policy, you can still hit an extremely tight toe hold on that same foot. I have a training partner who eats me alive with it.
