Thread: New rule in UFC

    New rule in UFC

Iv been thinking about this for a while. Why should the fight favour the stand up fighter. I think if a guy drops and the other guy walks back, why stand him up. I think personaly the stand up guy should be made to fight. This way peoples open guard passing and open guard striking will have to improve and in the end make a better fight.

Expecialy on a title fight like Anderson Silva vs Maia, if he couldnt finish him at his own game he has to start playing Maias game to prove he is the champ.

    Whats your thoughts?

Kinda boring to look at a fight where one guy is lying on the ground while another dude is looking at him while winning on the knockdown

Yer but thats the whole point i think people open guard attacks will advance so much more, instead of just kicking their leggs or jumping over people will divise better ays to pass and/or attack open guard.

I'd more than love to see fights on the ground more but I don't know how that rule would work. I think you would see guys butt floppong a lot more just to force guys to fight on the ground.
What I'd like to see is less ref stand ups. I've seen some pretty technical matches stood up for BS reasons.

Look... forcing people to grapple isn't going to make an exciting fight. It also won't take the sport in that direction. What we need is for Jiu Jitsu fighters to start being dominant again. When that happens, and they aren't getting knocked out and layed on, rules may change to be more grappling oriented and fans may start wanting submissions more than knockouts. Either way, when we start seeing Jiu Jitsu reclaim the throne, that's when people will start focusing on it again.
