I never had respect for Marc Laimon so my view of him couldn't go down watching this. Look at Serra calling him out on TUF, Royce Gracie calling him a "chicken shit" for learning from the Gracie's than talking shit about them.

Winning on points in Jiu Jitsu isn't really winning at all and losing on points isn't really losing. I can see having points for kids tournaments U16... You have people taking adv of the rules like this. Have 20-30 min match and if there's still no submission call it a draw.

A win is a win. If you beat Ryron Gracie a celebration is in order. The anti-points rhetoric gets out of hand on here. Do some people abuse the rule sets to try and eek out wins on points? Of course. On the other hand many high level grapplers are very good, which naturally results in less finishes at the higher levels. Big time finishers like Marcelo, Rafa, Buchecha, Braulio...these are not the norms.

Agreed on the 1st part. As for the second part, just because to say you didn't finish me so you didn't beat me is equally stupid as trying to win by advantages. I like sub only matches too, but a huge part of Jiu-Jitsu is positional dominance, and positions like knee on belly, mount, and back control are awarded points because of your ability to throw strikes and submission attempts from there with little effective defense from your opponent, and that control should be awarded. If I get passed and mounted 10 times but don't get submitted that's nothing to brag about. I got dominated.

Plus, and I know you didn't say this, but the idea that ALL points matches are boring is equally crazy. Rafa x Cobrinha at ADCC 09 may well be the most exciting no-gi match of all time. At ADCC this past year, Vinny Magalhaes, Andre Galvao, and Braulio Estima all had super exciting matches that ended in points. Marcelo Garcia and Dean Lister finished their matches, and the Rafa x Cobrinha match was really the only dud fro last year's finals. Kyra Gracie and Michelle Nicolini had a barnburner that ended with a vicious omoplata as well.

I agree, but pulling the shirt was allowed for that match. But I agree, dickish move.
