Knee bar from electric chair?

I was just curious.. Is there a possible knee bar available from the electric chair? The moment you get there leg on your shoulder, you would need to take your opposite leg (the one on the opposite side of said shoulder) and bring it around/under their body to the other side.. (obviously youd be holding their leg tight to your body/shoulder this whole time) but I was just curious if this is worth looking into, or if there would be too much space/room for escape on their part. Seeing as though im by no means well versed in knee bars, I figured Id ask some people who knew more about the subject than myself. Just curious.

I've never gone straight from electric chair to knee bar because I've never needed to. Maybe if I encounter a guy who is too flexible for the electric chair and I need a sub more than a sweep I'll try it. But I believe it's possible. I attack with the kneebar if I've lost the lockdown and I'm in half guard with the underhook. I use something similar to what Popovitch shows here.





I go half guard with underhook, left hand in armpit, left knee on their chest. Kick away and heisman to make them post their hands, and I swivel for the kneebar. I'm thinking to go from electric chair, it would be a matter of getting your left leg in position since you already own the leg. But I'm just guessing.

Actually, that video was pretty much exactly what I was picturing.. not only that, but he actually had a couple good points that I hadnt even thought of (Pushing your foot against their armpit to get them more parallel). And I am with you that If I get to electric chair, Im most likely going to go for the sweep (higher percentage).. But I figure in the event that youre in a tournament, and you only have 10 seconds left in the match, If the banana split/crotch ripper doesnt work from the electric chair.. I was just thinking that the knee bar might be a good last effort rather than trying to sweep and make some miracle happen once youre on top within a few seconds. Thanks for the post though. Cant wait to fiddle around with this a bit now that I know its plausible

I'm guessing hes talking about instead of trying to make someone tap from stretching the electric chair your tourque down on the knee as your popping your hips i have almost 90% sub from here doing this instead of the stretch

I just looked at both MTS that the Technique guide reference electric chair and didn't see it. Maybe somebody else knows where it is at. I know it is a quick mention in there somewhere. David is correct. Gable grip and make sure the bone on your arm is on the side of his knee. Then just roll it like a straight armlock while clamping down. You for sure can damage a knee with this so be carefull.

I hit this move on a 4 stripe blue when I was still a white belt. Had never seen or thought of it before. It was just there and I took it.
