i think its about how practical it is. to me there seems to be a few factors. one is how legit someone would be if they didnt train with an affiliate in real life. i think its possible, especially if there are guys that put it into practice and dont just learn the theory but guys ive helped out with have often said things like omg ive seen it on the internet but ive never been able to get it until you showed me. and im not even a moon head or anything. i think if thats all it was then its absolutly possible to get a blue belt online, and if the guy is really good then maybe a purple.
but i dont think thats all of what is needed. especially at higher belts.
i think one thing that may not be talked about often but is there a lot is loyalty to the club. maybe a youtube fighter knows more techniques but if they dont rep the system or support the club or anything then i think theyre missing a part of it.
i also think that they need to compete as well. i dont think they necessarily have to win but showing that they are trying to get into the sport also plays a big factor.
and i know everyone says if you can put in enough time to watch the videos you can get to a proper affiliate and i agree with this. but has anyone actually met someone who trains off videos that doesnt do this? im kind of on my own over here in nz and i get a lot of my stuff from videos but i train at an mma gym to get it down and i travel over to frank barca in melbourne hopefully two three times a year.
so i guess im wondering if were all talking about something/someone that doesnt really exist?
