your armbar escape is exactly the same the d'arce choke doesn't change I can still go knee in belly the same. My back escapes are the same if you mount me I'll still bridge and roll you.

To me everything is grappling and bjj, judo wrestling are just rules super imposed on it that force you to develop different strategies and styles.
    this.

I practice no-gi BJJ, I train at 10th Planet. It's all the same.

10th Planet is a system, same as Marcelo has a system, Loyd Irvin has one, Telles has a rather interesting one. All the basic principles of BJJ still apply, just different strategies and application.

Competition wise, for sure you have to compete at your rank.

Yeah, I understand all the same principles apply etc etc, I was just shocked how different it felt when I rolled with 10thP guys compared to what I was used to at my gym. Yes, it's all Jiu Jitsu but the style felt so foreign to me, no way I would feel comfortable holding whatever rank I was into a 10thP gym and then trying to use that system. Just my opinion.

I'm also coming from a 50% Gi, 50% Nogi gym so it's not like I had never rolled NoGi before.

Maybe it's just me and my whitebeltedness.
