In training a lot of people tap when they know or think they know that they are caught, even before pressure is applied, so they avoid any risk of injury. Personally I tap fast and often, why risk hurting myself struggling if I know I'm caught, I'd rather just tap, restart, and go again.

How about when Kevin Green looks at you the wrong way? Terrifying.

Since I have a long time hip/knee injury (I'm working on it with chiro and yoga daily)I don't have extreme flexibilty. However I work the shit outta my leg curls and clinch squeeze. I usually get one or two taps a night from my clinch(from guard).

I don't do much competition, but while rolling I've had people tap to my lockdown and to twister side control or even the twister pass.

smart man, this guys going places, if it feels wierd, & you don't know what it is, then just tap. ie sambo locks, they can be fucking wierd, and my boy caught me with one last year, I made a note and added it to my game

I pansy tap when my neck is cranked and I feel out of orientation. Meaning that their body weight is in an unfamiliar place or I can't tell up from down. My back is messed up right no so I'll also pansy tap if I get accordion stacked. That use to be a bread and butter position for bicep crushers and arm bars but I'm too wrecked to take the pressure anymore.

Nothing wrong with tapping and other than my self deprecating use of the phrase "pansy tap" I would never fault anybody for tapping under any circumstances.
