Its amazing how many people use traditional half fullstop. Especially the way people use it to basically stall or get back into Full Guard. Lockdown brings so much control to the supposedly "Bad position", not to mention sweeps and subs.

Sadly its not the first move Ive been told I cant use. Electric Chair and the Arm Crush when trying to get the Armbar were also included in the no-no list.

You know what though, I think it just shows how effective it is when people think its too dangerous to even train.

What the hell could be dangerous about he arm crush from spiderweb? in other positions maybe they couldn't easily tap but come on. Danger has nothing to do with this bullshit, more like fear.

The downside is that groin stretches are allowed by IBJJF. So while you're not working them, your opponent might be. And ignorance to the move could end in injury. Your instructor should wise up. It's like gun control. Children who are instructed on proper care and handling have SIGNIFICANTLY less gun accidents than kids who are just told "don't touch daddy's guns." When you know what you're dealing with, you know how to be safe with it. If you don't you can get hurt. Learn everything. If you dont' it will be used on you. And if you aren't familiar with it, it may be too late by the time you tap.

    I agree 100%.

Im not trying to bag my gym either, I love it and the level of teaching puts it up as one of the top straight BJJ schools in Australia.

Its just that I think people should be willing to learn and practice anything and everything that works in this game...because one day someone will use it on you and you will be like: "oh shit.."

Groin stretches are allowed at brown and above apparently.
