Just practice normal good hygiene. Don't listen to Hollywood Joe and his BS on expensive soaps. Normal soap works perfectly, use it.

Normal soap does not kill fungus. Antibacterial soaps kill good bacteria as well as bad bacteria. Invest in a good soap, if you care about yourself and your training partners.
I've been using defense for over a 1.5yrs now, I'll never use regular soap again.

I heard that washing down with head and shoulders shampoo. works. Wish I knew that when I was wrestling in high school. More like a team of lepers. The main thing is to shower as soon as possible after getting off the mats and to wear clean training gear every day.

Thats because of the ingredient "nizoral", is a anti-fungal.

Chris do you use that soap everyday? I heard from a non credible source that using the soap everyday weakens your natural defenses. Wanted to know I have never used Defense but I have antibacterial soap and shower at the gym right after training. Your 2 cents.

How would it weaken your immune system? Killing good bacteria and good staph will weaking your immune system (i.e. anti bacterial soap). Yes I use defense every day, the diffrence is huge!

That's what I was thinking but I prefer to research things before I speak. It only took a few moments of looking up the active ingredients in Defense soap (eucalyptus oil, ti tree oil) to realize that there is a sound and logical principal behind it.

Ti Tree Oil: One well-known melaleuca, the Ti tree (aka tea tree), Melaleuca alternifolia, is notable for its essential oil which is both anti-fungal, and antibiotic, while safely usable for topical applications.

Eucalyptus oil: Eucalyptus oil is also used in personal hygiene products for antimicrobial properties in dental care[12] and soaps. It can also be applied to wounds to prevent infection.

I attempt to live a natural and organic lifestyle, over time I've transitioned my food and topical products to organic/natural including soaps, deodorants, tooth paste,hair products etc. Its one of the reason I really like defense soap. I treat my body better, so it allows me to have more time on the mats

I was in wrestling for almost all my life, I got ringworm one time on my back and that was in middle school. after that I would always have a bottle of rubbing alch and cotton swab's on me at all times, any marks, scratches, Mat burn....etc..... I would nail it with rubbing alch. haven't had a problem since then.

just started rolling a couple of months ago and had to learn the hard way that fungal infections like staph n such like can b a problem.heard joe rogan talking about defence soap but after tracking down a supplier found out it costs around 5-6 dollars but costs around £30 to ship it here to scotland.any advice for me and i'm sure alot of other newbies about other options would b very welcomed.

staph is a bacterial infection, not a fungal infection (common misconception). Any antibacterial soap will do the job. I don't condone antibacterial soap for many people, and you shouldn't use it every day either, but if you're at high risk for infection (and if you roll, you are), use it before and after you roll or train. Just good overall hygiene should prevent 99% of all infections.
