A New way to stuff the whip up in half guard by Keith Owen.(ignore previous thread)

i folks, ( I fucked up the title, balls.)
Just bought all of Keith owen's material (who is a pedro Sauer blackbelt, who inturn is a rickson gracie black belt.), and in volume 3 there are techniques on breaking the lockdown. Fair enough, it showed some pretty standard moves, such as breaking the double unders then sitting up etc. But then the last technique i had never seen before. I'll try and explain it.

So the guy on top is in the lockdown on his right leg.The guy on bottom gets double unders. Then the guy on bottom whips up. As this happens, the guy on top puts his right arm across the body on the guy on the bottom and rolls on to his right shoulder. His right shoulder hits on the grond by the rightside on the guy on the bottom. The guy on top continues to roll and eventually ends up taking the guys back.

It really was an inventive technique and I would be curious to see if any of you guys have performed it or will try it out in class.

Sounds like Ninja to Back. Kinda like getting a trickster from the opponents half guard once you start slipping out of the lockdown.

My buddy pulls this off quite a bit. It looks a lot like the samarai but from half guard.

I knew there was something there. I've found myself in a similar situation, looking down, thinking... there's got to be a twister roll there. I bought the Keith Owen set as well, so I'll be checking into it. Trying to tinker with the position I just couldn't grasp the proper hip direction due to a lack of familiarity with the technique.

I like to work the twister pass but instead of completely pulling my leg out and landing in twister side I turn back in and drive the leg being controlled back down to the mat basically forcing them into quarter guard. From there I work the trickster.

What i liked about it jeff was the fact it wasn't a standard pass where you force your way out of half guard. It seemed more of a flow technique where your timing has to be good. You take advantage of the split second he whips you up and dive across his body rolling onto your shoulder. Ii'm sure it would be hard to pull of against a high level guy but i think its viable if you get the timing right.

I checked it out.. it's more like a lateral sambo victor roll rather than a twister roll. At least that's how the roll starts. I'm wondering what sort of pressure this escape puts on the knee? I remember a Sambo guy showing a similar escape on the old website and Herzog having a disagreement with him over whether or not it would damage you if you were in a fully extended lockdown.

    Anybody remember that old thread?
