I found out about Eddie after the Royler win from my brother who was already training Jiu Jitsu, JKD etc. I grew up in boxing and martial arts and loved the UFC since day 1 in 94 (I think). As some have said Rogan was plugging away more and more about Eddie, so I did some research on him, but due to my lifestyle I was living in Chicago, Orlando & Miami and traveling almost every weekend so I was unable to find just an hour to train. Eventually 10 months ago I restructured my life style and looked up to see if there was a 10th Planet in Chicago and I found Josh. I set up some privates and we all know this world is small, Josh and I used to work at the same club, know all the same people, and his uncle used to train with my brother. So Josh became a close friend right away. I feel in love with the system and how I always say that Eddie is the Bruce Lee of Jits and Josh Passani is such a passionate and great instructor! Eddie, 10th Planet Chicago North & Josh Passani has changed my life and my brother has also feel back in love with Jits and 10th Planet system.

I started with Judo and TKD in Memphis in 2005 and stayed with them until 2007 when I took a break to finish Nursing school. I had some pretty decent pins from the judo, but aside from kata gatame/ arm triangle I had 0 in the way of submissions. Fast forward to August 2010 and I've finally got the funds to get back into judo, and within one month I end up dislocating my left shoulder which ended up requiring surgery. During the downtime from the mats, I was browsing Barnes and Noble one day looking for a book to supplement my now more or less non-existent ground game. First book I picked up was Mastering the Rubber Guard. Cracked it open and the first technique I saw was Half and Half from dogfight. Everything was so well laid out and explained so well that I picked the book up then and there. Soon after I joined up with my current gym and have been a Nibiru warrior ever since. 10P4L

My story of how I found 10thplanet. We put Cora in BJJ for 2 years now and by the 1st year, she wasn't improving much at all. How can any kids learn anything 1 hour a day, 2 hours a week? So I got tired of seeing her get smashed by a more experience kid. I decided to be more involved and take a more proactive role in her training. So beginning of last summer, I look for anything and everything that was unique in BJJ. I found too many and studied it but decided that at this point in time, Cora is not ready for any of those moves as her body is not to that point where she can do any of those things. So I seach even more, but then I remember watching PRIDE and there was a guy by the name of Shiya Aioki (spell?) he was ripping bigger guys arm off. And I can remember the announcer, can't remember who it was, maybe Bas Rutten , but anyways he always member Shiya Aioki and his rubber guard. I remember when he put on his rubber guard, it was the beginning of the end. I didn't see anybody come out of it. So I reseach more and more on this rubber guard, thinking that Shiya Aioki was the one who created it... THen one day while watching MMAinsider with Bas and Kenny, there was EDDIE. Catching the show midway, I didn't know who Eddie was, but I know he wasn't an MMA fighter as I follow UFC and Pride and Strikeforce. So not knowing who he was, I just pay attention to the other guests. Then Bas ask Eddie something along this line " if someone that is not flexible come into your gym, will you be able to teach him the rubber guard?" THen something click for me, Eddie is the guy I should be googling or youtubing for. I popped the laptop out and search...sure enough there were a dozen videos out on the rubber guard. Still not convinced about how to use it for Cora, I search further for anything related to the rubber guard and eddie bravo. I found many tournament vid of people using the rubber guard to great success, especially one from Mr. 300. This vid seal the deal for us as I saw Denny get taken down and right away he put that rubber guard on and that other guy didn't get out of it. So seaching further, I found 10thplanetJJ.com the place where it all started. Now when a parent ask how Cora know so many crazy moves? I just told them 10thplanetJJ.

sneakergus: yes you are truly correct brother...to me Master Eddie is the Bruce Lee of Jits.

I started doing Jiu jitsu in January 2000 under a Rickson Gracie lackbelt. I was a 100% gi guy. I heard about Eddie and his win over Royler in 2003 but when I heard he was all about no Gi I quickly lost interest. Fast forward to 2009. I was 41 years old and recently divorced. I was always interested in doing mma but my ex wife hated Jiu Jitsu so mma was out of the question. But now I was single so I told my coach I wanted to do a few mma fights. He asked me why do I want to do that at my age and I told him because didnt want to wake up one day at 61 and say I wish I would have. He seemed to reluctantly agree and told me I needed to start going to the mma classes. Now remember I trained only in the gi for 9 years. I started going to the mma classes and got a rude awakening. A lot of the guys I was teaching and tapping out in the Jiu jitsu classes we doing much better against me in the mma classes and a few were killing me. I felt like a white belt all over again.One guy "Jason" caught me in invisible collar two times in a row. I asked him what he did and he said it was part of Eddie Bravos Rubber guard called invisible collar. I had heard of it but I was always told not to wast my time with it. However now a white belt that i was teaching gi Jiu jitsu too just tapped me twice with it so I went out and bought mastering the rubber guard and mastering the twister that night. As I read the intros to the books I was blown away. I keep thinking this Eddie Bravo guy is sooooo correct. I was feeling in the mma classes exactly what he was talking about how the set ups for gi and no gi are completly different. A triangle is a triangle but how you set it up in gi and no gi is different. I felt like a white belt for the first time in a long time. My game slowly begain to change as I added more and more 10th Panet to game and the rest is history. I think if I never decided to do mma I would probably still be wearing a gi lol

Without getting too wordy as I'm know to do, I'll keep it simple.

Royce Gracie showed the effectiveness of GJJ. I fell in love with it. Then vale tudo/NHB started to evolve into MMA. BJJ guys were starting to lose and I lost interest in BJJ because nobody was really trying anything new. Then I remembered some debate on the old ADCC forums about rubber guard and Eddie Bravo. So I wondered, hey, I wonder what's going on with that guy's system these days? Found this video:





Saw some wild ish that I ain't never seen before (the truch) and got that BJJ fire reignited in me. It seemed that BJJ had been evolving while I stopped paying attention and 10th Planet was at the forefront of that evolution.

So I then I found 10thplanetjj.com. Posted for about a year, I think. Then I joined up with 10th planet Roc and it's been on since then. Addicted ever since. I literally go to bed thinking of rolling and going through reps in my head. And 10th planet BJJ, in addition to an amazing coach and awesome team mates, has made me a better man and improved my quality of life.

Purchased Eddies first book then while on vacation took his class back during the Bomb Squad days. It was the first time I ever met one of my idols. Eddie was awesome!

Oh wait, I still gave the long version. The short version is that I've been a forum nerd for more than a decade. I used to frequent the ADCC forums (I don't think they exist anymore). I've always been more interested in no gi than gi. Anyhow, I heard of 10th planet pretty much when Eddie started it because the hate was all over the internet. I asked what the heck 10th planet was and some guy showed me a picture of the now defunct London position. Like a year or two later Dean Lister triangled a guy using RG/london as the set up. So rubber guard has always intrigued me because it's been proven to be effective. I just didn't know there was a whole system to it. I just didn't get mind blown until I saw the truck in the above video. And when I saw the lockdown series, I was officially committed to the idea of learning this stuff.

Dammit, I can't seem to keep a story short no matter how hard I try. SMH.
