I think you're doing the best thing you can possibly do for her as a parent: Offer her a full support system and get her proficiency and confidence up through Jiu Jitsu while helping hopefully build a stong character.

Traditional martial arts made me the person I am today. I am very at peace with myself. I only wish I start BJJ when I could have.

A strong support system can greatly keep kids out of trouble. PAL's boxing programs are a great example of this, not only does fighting create a strong empowered individual, it also instills non-parental life figures and keeps the kids off the streets during the most dangerous hours (the unsupervised time between when school ends and adults work schedule ends).

Just make sure she always has fun, that's important to keep her from being burnt out like so many other prodigies (as Eddie was saying).

Seeing so many kids stray away from their parent, this worries me. That is why I do what I do. Hopefully when she gets older she can truly understand the value of what we are doing together. It isn't about the thrill of the competition? Its more about finding something that we both love to do....together, father/daughter time. And I use that time to guide her to be a good person.
