I think they cut him because they were having to pay him too much money for the return they were getting. Like Derrick said, 'why would I pay to watch Fitch when I can see Pettis fly off the cage?'

And I would imagine Fitch is making a hell of a lot more money per fight than Pettis, just based on how long they have been in the company. I'm guessing if they cut Fitch, he wins a couple and then comes back they can start him on a lower show and win pay.

I'm not a Fitch fan, never have been so I can't say I'm sorry to see him go but from a sports perspective he should never have been cut. From a business and entertainment stand point, the UFC are glad to see him go!
