You are partly correct, depending on the persons age an other factors to could take a couple decades for all the benefits conferred by being biologically a male, it may not even happen during their career as a fighter.

Well, Russia gave huge doses of roids to young female weight lifters and basically turned them into men. That is, gave them many traits that were male like, and they have since banned the practice. Not entirely the same but similar in principle.

Its about genetics, what makes someone a male of female is not philosophically or up for debate. This is science mother fuckers! For nearly every, even semi-complex animal and even some plants sex is determined by having either a pair of identical sex chromosomes (XX female,homogametic) or two different sex chromosomes (XY male,heterogametic)
