So about 4 weeks ago I took a solid elbow to the nose (won't say by who). Two weeks after doing it I went to the doctor to see if I had broke it. At the appointment the doc said he wanted to do blood draws to test my cholesterol levels and other things. Fast forward a week later, I get a call from the docs office stating I need to schedule a consult because some one of the lab results came back for risk of a stroke.
I go back to the Doc's office and he explains they did a coagulation test, tests how fast your blood clots, and he explains that my blood clots faster then normal and it puts me at a high risk for a stroke. Going further into it he says the risk for a stroke in male is 35, and because we caught it early enough I only have to take a low dose asprin every day to help thin my blood out a little bit, instead of a perscription med that would prevent me from any physical exercise again.
In the end getting my nose broken may have extended my life by who knows how many years and allowed me to continue to pursure a life in martial arts. Thank you Derek Stewart for using you elbow to ensure I didn't take your back, and saving my life.
