David has always personally responded to my emails and is a very nice guy. He overcame a misdiagnosis of autism as a kid, I heard, and a speech impediment. Now he does public seminars and videos. Cool story. I'd train with him if I could.

I friended him on facebook and have talked with him a couple times, he seems genuinely nice and seems to want to help Jiu Jitsu regardless of who you train with or what style.

You guys may not believe this but although I thought there could be politics involved I didn't even think about the TLI connection. I have had good interactions with the Avellons and just that they answer emails from a random white belt like me is pretty cool. Since posting this thread and before the fight started tonight I looked into this whole scandal. All I can say is I sincerely hope the Avellons distance themselves from Lloid Irvin. Sorry for bring this drama to the forum.

MOST people have distanced themselves from LI. A few have stayed by his side though. My original question was out of curiosity cause I hadnt heard whether the Avellon Brothers have or havent and I was too lazy to google the information. Ive heard they are cool cats

Thank you einstein. Im behind the redwood curtain on the lost coast. Humboldt has its perks but variety of gyms is not among them. Im at the only no-gi gym for a long way.
