Gymnastics would be great. I did it for 10 years growing up and although I haven't for 9 years, I can still do a lot of the moves which helps with jiu - jitsu. She will get strong legs which will make her guard even more lethal. Many guys at my gym struggle getting out of mine.

Master Eddie: when we visited you, you recommend us putting her in gymnastic also. You see, we put her in gymnastic for a whole year before we found Jiu Jitsu, she couldn't even do a cartwheel properly after a whole year. Not to mention it is very expensive. I do want to put her back in gymnastic as I see where you are coming from with this, however, I also know that we can't afford it. We already paying $170/month for her JJ class and if we go to a minimum of 1 tournament a month, it can cost anywhere between $300-350 just for her Jiu Jitsu. So for now, until I win the Lotto, I will convert our garage into a gym instead.

As far as her tournament goes, we have 2 weeks to drill hard on the new techniques as she has another tournament on March 30th. For this past tournament, we been drilling the electric chair, the prison guard, the pyramid, swim move, lockdown, twister pass, and of course the rubber guard. However, they all are still "GREEN". But with more time, I feel that once she truly understand them, she will be in a good spot. Not sure how long this will take but I feel that if she get all of this down, she will be a much rounded grappler for her age and skill level. If you guys out there have any advice, please feel free to do so and it is ALWAYS appreciated....thank you Bruce

On another note, i'm not sure if you guys out there can relate, but with all of the techniques I just mention above. When sparring with her teammates at the gym, she puts them on very effeciently. She lead me to think that she really got it. She is able to finish her partners who are at the same level as her within a minute time. She would snatched their legs with the Black Mamba, lock them down, and electric chair them and then knee ride and go for the chopping block on them. Or she would go from lockdown to the pyramid with no problem and carni them in seconds. But for the life of me, I don't know if her training partners just aren't that good OR these boys at the tournaments are just very good. Most of those techniques went out the window when they start smashing on her. At the gym, when her partners smash on her, she still can use all those techniques cleanly, but in competition, they are almost none existence. I've been watching all of her videos over and over again, the boys she KNOWS that she can beat, she hit them with everything, most of the time finishing them. But with those that she kind of nervous about, all techniques goes out the window. When this happen, as a coach and trainer, what do you all do to help over come this? I hope you guys know what I'm trying to say here. I'm going to put a video of her rolling at the gym so you can compare it to how she does in tournament. I think its all in her head as I know I prepare her very well for tournaments. THanks Bruce

hey bruce, awesome to see cora doing well and always improving. but i understand exactly what you mean about the whole killing guys in the gym and then getting smashed in competition. i just had it this weekend, and i think it is one because people do just push a lot harder and put a lot more into slamming you down. im starting to work a lot more on my explosivness and wrestling. maybe thats it with cora aswell, but i mean shes really going well and i think she just has to work at it for a bit longer.

congrats that she did so well at naga, cant wait to see more

    awesome RG btw

Cora has another tournament on the 30th. You will see more vids then. This time we are traveling out of town to look for a fight. We are playing the role of spoiler this time.. yeah I think she just need more drilling time with the new techniques. I'm presently building her a grappling dummy just for that purpose as I'm too fat for her to do somethings with.

Thank you guys.... Cora and I review all her NAGA matches today especially the one she got tapped out. We basically notice that it wasn't really anything that the other kid was doing. Its was mostly what Cora wasn't doing that got her in trouble. So if we drill more on her current techniques, and if she truly get the grasp of them, she should do fine from here on out. However, I'm not sure how long it will take her to do so.
