Interesting point about how guys aren't really concerned with guards because of the way fights are scored. I hear them on the idea that guys should be more focused on sweeps. I've expressed that sentiment for years. And I do agree that RG should not be the only guard you have.
But I still believe that if guys would give it a chance, they'd see it is a better guard than closed guard with double wrist control. I also think its better than closed guard even while clinching. I don't get the resistance. Multiple times they admit it works yet they keep opining against it as if its nearly useless.
But there was a time when guys thought jabs were useless in MMA. And even Rogan said that you can't have good head movement in MMA. Until Anderson, people thought the front snap kick was dead now they all use it. Just give it time. Eventually people started jabbing, using head movement, and throwing snap kicks. Little by little guys will mix RG into their game.
