Geez guys cant believe theres no billy maddison,happy gilmore,Tommy boy yet I'm a little ashamed of myself for not mentioning them in the first place. Step Brothers and taladaga nights always make me laugh also.

This sounds like the same regurgitated opinion others were given and and in turn have accepted as their own. A couple psycology and literature professors dogged the shit out of her, so then it just became trendy. You don't have to adorn the dogma as a whole to agree with certain aspects. Take the Bible for instance. She 100% predicted the state the US is in today. Welfare, taxing those willing to work to support those who aren't, our 'duty' to do so. It is a triumph story of the human spirit and what can be accomplished for those willing to work for it. The first 500 pages are rough, I'll give you that. But the last 500 are profound and deeply so if you admire the human mind, will, and work ethic. Finish the book and make a judgement on it alone, not the author's personal beliefs, not a web search, and def not someone else's borrowed opinion. “Contradictions do not exist. Actually, I had a teacher in high school that give me a list of authors to read. I was in 16 at the time. I tossed it in the trash and just kept going down the list (did dicover guys like Gerald Kersh, Harlan Ellison). I didn't research her until about 10 years later when a co-worker was looking into it and brought that stuff to my attention.

Actually, my co-worker was asking my opinion about her. My nickname in the navy was Sci-Fi. Someone told her that Ayn Rand was a sci-fi writer. So she asked me and I told I didn't know much about her. She started digging and stopped when she saw that Ayn Rand based her philosophy partially on the actions of a child murderer. I dug a lot deeper and tried to read more of her work. But the more I dug the more I came to the conclusion that Ayn Rand was a despicable, utterly horrid human being.

Was she right about what's happening now? For the most part. But for all the wrong reasons. She got it all backwards. The looters are the guys who ran Enron. Or the banks. Or Big Oil. Or Pharma. As long as they get theirs, they don't care who it hurts. Her screed to greed and her claim that selfishness is a virtue is exactly what is wrong with humanity now. I'll leave you with a couple quotes from Anton LaVey, Founder of the Church of Satan: "I give people Ayn Rand with trappings." "My religion is just Ayn Rand’s philosophy with ceremony and ritual added.”

Back to movies. The Raid: Redemption kicks ass. Indonesian movie featuring silat. I think the new Judge Dredd movie mirrors the basic plot.
