    Hook Sweep From Rubber Guard

Nothing ground breaking here, but I still think its a quality technique. And it's very interesting to note that this comes from a Gracie Barra school.

Very rarely should you ever get stalled out while in NY position. Carni all day when they step over your foot.

I don't dislike the technique he shows as I use the hook sweep and scissor sweep (just not from RG), I just think there are better options leading to susbmissions sooner in the progression.

Agreed with Chris 100%. So many options from RG, why risk the guy popping out from your control by opening up your control to sweep him? Been drilling this scenario with Cora all this week and we basically Carni all day like Chris said. Been playing with Carni to Swim move to gogoplata.

Agree, why would you sweep instead of setting up for carni and just finish the match or start working on meat bag and work from there.

Because sometimes an opponent WANTS to be swept.

Because often a failed or false sweep will open your submission and/or progression options more fully.

Because my job is to flow.

That being said whenever he pushed his head with his left hand to 'try to make something happen', it was obvious he isn't proficient at clearing the head or rescue dog.

However, I do runinto roadblcks. Gonna play with it. Thanks.

Preach it brother! My goal is never to be submitted, but I do...so it's good to learn how to defend against submissions. Especially if you're playing the points game (as we must in most tournaments), it's nice to have this as an option to get an easy 4pts. Of course, we should always be in pursuit of the submission, but having point options are nice too...maybe this dude crushes your submission game or your sub attempts suck. Be like water my friend!
