    It makes sense that this would come from a Gracie guy tho tbh. Instead of gettin in there and findin a way to make it work, they will abandon and go to a principle they understand. Whether or not we use it, I think its fantastic and overall good for the system.

    You can clearly tell he has spent some time drilling it properly or else we would rip him a new one.

    I think you're right. And I think that makes it beautiful. He took a really cool idea (rubber guard) and tied it into something he was already proficient with. We all do that on the regular. The expansive nature of jiu jitsu allows for this; more accurately, it encourages it. There's no way for me to include every movement or idea into my personal game. But if I see something valuable or interesting I can further develop my understanding of the overarching principals of jiu jitsu by investigating it, and possibly spicing my own game with it.

    Thats really what I do. Ill see something that has some value. Ill decide if I will add it to my own personal game but either way in the end I keep it in mind for teaching purposes.
